I make photo based work that takes a variety of forms. References to sky/air, breath, and time have found their way into my work over the years.
The story by Michael Martone opened feelings and ideas around distance/space, longing, time, and the sometimes vaporous thread of connection between ourselves and another. The experience of reading the story had a quiet, calm and spacious quality. However the story itself involved a desperate chase, and a repeating attempt at intimate reconnection across a kind of spatial and personal dislocation. The story seemed to live in the air and on the ground at the same time – a peculiar, potent feeling that prompted my response.
