We are currently open for creative writing submissions influenced by the images of Lauren Frances Evans (see our home page). Submissions for this round will close on August 1st.
Prompt welcomes traditional and experimental short stories, prose poems, creative non-fiction, and hybrid work. Please use any or all images from the featured artist's work as a trigger for your creative process. Though your submission should respond to the featured artist’s work, it should also work independently. Fiction submissions should be no longer than ten pages.
Prompt welcomes submissions of poetry by both emerging and established writers. We’re interested in poems that captivate on first read and then continue to reward over multiple readings. We value no one formal approach over another but we do look for poems that use sound and form in fruitful and interesting ways. For Prompt, poems should neither duplicate the triggering visual art nor be only derivative of it. Instead, where can this trigger get you? What does it make available to your poem? We look forward to reading your work!
Please follow the guidelines below when submitting poetry:
To submit your work for consideration, email no more than 6 images per round, sRGB JPG format, 1280ppi on the longest side, with title and caption details. Please include a cover letter.
We will get back to you about your submissions within one month.
